Before becoming an author, Kristen was a kid. And although she’s now a parent and grandparent, she’s still a kid at heart. You’ll often find her hiding in the children’s section of her beloved Michigan public libraries, pondering life lessons from her favorite philosophers, Calvin and Hobbes. After teaching writing for over 30 years, Kristen finally let her own stories—sparked by her truly grand grandchildren—come to life. Her LollyBooks series celebrates the beauty and joy of generational connections with humor and heart.

Kristen N. Dobson is a children’s picture book author whose work celebrates the power of storytelling to connect generations. Before becoming an author, Kristen spent more than 30 years teaching writing, guiding students of all ages to find their voices and tell their stories with clarity and heart.
In addition to her work as an educator, Kristen homeschooled her seven children and, together with her family, has fostered many young children over the years. These experiences shaped her deep understanding of family dynamics, learning styles, and the profound role that caring adults—parents, grandparents, teachers, and mentors—play in a child’s emotional and intellectual development.
Through decades of teaching, parenting, homeschooling, and fostering, Kristen has witnessed firsthand the significance of intergenerational relationships. She believes that stories shared between children and the adults who love them create lasting bonds, build empathy, and provide a foundation for meaningful conversations that extend far beyond the page.
Kristen’s stories are inspired by her truly grand grandchildren, whose curiosity, humor, and imagination sparked her transition from teaching others to finally telling her own stories. Her LollyBooks series is rooted in this lived experience, offering picture books that invite children and adults to read together, laugh together, and reflect together. With warmth and gentle humor, her books highlight the everyday moments that strengthen relationships across generations.
When she isn’t writing or going on adventures with her grandkids, Kristen can be found browsing the children’s sections of Michigan public libraries, revisiting beloved classics, and pondering life lessons from her favorite philosophers, Calvin and Hobbes. Through her writing, she hopes to deepen connections between children and the important adults in their lives—one picture book at a time.
